Tiki Hut Umbrella
Thatched umbrella-style shade for patios and pools—Florida statewide.
Tiki hut umbrellas give you thatched shade in a compact, single-post form. They’re ideal for smaller patios, poolside lounging, or dining areas where a full multi-post hut isn’t needed. We build and install them across Florida.
The thatched top provides shade and a tiki look without the footprint of a full hut. They’re often easier to permit and quicker to install, and they hold up well in Florida sun and rain when built with the right materials.
Single-Post Design
One central post supports the thatched canopy. The base can be set in concrete or attached to a deck. We size the post and canopy for your space and wind exposure.
Synthetic or Natural Thatch
We offer synthetic or natural thatch for the umbrella top. Synthetic lasts longer with less upkeep; natural gives a classic look. Both work in Florida when installed correctly.
Where They Work Best
Patios, beside pools, over outdoor tables, or in corners of the yard. They’re a good option when you want shade and style without a large structure.
Umbrella-style shade vs. a full tiki hut
A tiki umbrella or single-post tiki hut is ideal when you need shade and atmosphere without a bar footprint or multiple posts. If you outgrow the coverage later, you can still expand into a larger tiki build or add a deck around the post base, depending on your layout.
UV, wind, and pool-deck conditions
Near pools and open water, thatch and hardware see extra moisture, chlorine spray, and wind across open space. We size the post and coverage for your exposure, choose appropriate synthetic or natural thatch, and detail the base for your soil or deck. Share your city and a few site photos on our contact form to start; see also where we work in Florida.
Keep umbrella thatch in good shape
When the canopy thins or leaks, you may only need a re-thatch on the top rather than a new frame. If the post wobbles or the wood softens, we can blend tiki repair with thatch work so the umbrella stays safe to use.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a tiki umbrella different from a full tiki hut?+
A tiki umbrella is a single-post structure with a thatched canopy—smaller footprint and usually simpler to permit. A full tiki hut has multiple posts and a larger covered area. Both give shade and a tiki look. Can it be mounted on a deck?+
Yes. We can mount the post on a deck if the deck is built to support the load. We’ll check the structure and recommend reinforcement if needed. How long does installation take?+
Single umbrella-style units often install in a day or less once the post base is ready. We’ll confirm timeline when we quote. What wind ratings should I expect for a tiki umbrella?+
We build to solid Florida practice for your post height and canopy size. In very exposed gulf- or ocean-front sites, we may recommend a smaller span, stronger post, or different footing—tell us about exposure when you request a quote. Can I upgrade from a tiki umbrella to a larger tiki bar later?+
Often yes, depending on the post location and how much you want to expand. It may become a new frame or a tied-in add-on. We cover expansions in our tiki build services and can advise after seeing photos of your current setup.
