Tiki Hut Re-Thatching

Replace worn or damaged thatch on your existing tiki hut—Florida statewide.

Over time, thatch fades, thins, or starts to leak. Re-thatching removes the old roof layer and installs new synthetic or natural thatch so your hut looks good again and stays dry. We do this across Florida for residential and commercial huts.

If the frame and posts are still sound, re-thatching is often more cost-effective than a full rebuild. We inspect the structure first and fix any minor framing issues before laying new thatch.

When to Re-Thatch

Signs include visible wear, sun-bleached or brittle thatch, water coming through the roof, or loose sections. Natural thatch typically needs re-thatching sooner than synthetic; we can advise based on what you have now.

Synthetic or Natural Replacement

You can replace like with like or switch to synthetic for longer life and less upkeep. We’ll quote both options so you can choose based on budget and appearance.

Frame Check Before Re-Thatching

We check posts and rafters before re-thatching. If we find rot or damage, we’ll recommend repair or post replacement so the new thatch goes on a solid structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does re-thatching take?+
Most single-hut re-thatching jobs take one to a few days once materials are on hand. Larger or multi-hut projects take longer. We’ll give a timeline after seeing your hut.
  • Can you re-thatch with a different color?+
Yes. If you’re switching to synthetic we can choose a color that approximates your current look or go for a new look. We’ll show options when we quote.
  • Do you remove the old thatch?+
Yes. We strip the old thatch, inspect and repair the frame as needed, then install the new thatch so the roof is clean and properly attached.
